PostSubject: Trackers   Fri Aug 01, 2008 2:20 pm

I've been trying without success to
get a tracker on my forum.

I got the account set up - even got the
button on that took me to the right page,
but the thing isn't tracking.

Aparently the code is wrong and they are
on about doing stuff in Notepad, but I don't
understand a thing they are talking about.

Help ! Please.

yep thats html and notepad is the editing board, if u want to post what they provide and what you are supposed to do (in code tags) and bottom of your post in options tick "disable HTML in the post" it will show correctly, and i will see what i can do.

Thanks Max Very Happy

It gives 2 codes - 1 if you Use 'NO Frames':

<div id="eXTReMe"><a href="http://extremetracking.com/open?login=rosec">
<img src="http://t1.extreme-dm.com/i.gif" style="border: 0;"
height="38" width="41" id="EXim" alt="eXTReMe Tracker" /></a>
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
var EXlogin='rosec' // Login
var EXvsrv='s11' // VServer
EXs=screen;EXw=EXs.width;navigator.appName!="Netscape"?
EXb=EXs.colorDepth:EXb=EXs.pixelDepth;
navigator.javaEnabled()==1?EXjv="y":EXjv="n";
EXd=document;EXw?"":EXw="na";EXb?"":EXb="na";
EXd.write("<img src=http://e2.extreme-dm.com",
"/"+EXvsrv+".g?login="+EXlogin+"&amp;",
"jv="+EXjv+"&amp;j=y&amp;srw="+EXw+"&amp;srb="+EXb+"&amp;",
"l="+escape(EXd.referrer)+" height=1 width=1>");//-->
</script><noscript><div id="neXTReMe"><img height="1" width="1" alt=""
src="http://e2.extreme-dm.com/s11.g?login=rosec&amp;j=n&amp;jv=n" />
</div></noscript></div>

And one if you 'DO' use Frames:

<div id="eXTReMe"><a href="http://extremetracking.com/open?login=rosec">
<img src="http://t1.extreme-dm.com/i.gif" style="border: 0;"
height="38" width="41" id="EXim" alt="eXTReMe Tracker" /></a>
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
var EXlogin='rosec' // Login
var EXvsrv='s11' // VServer
EXs=screen;EXw=EXs.width;navigator.appName!="Netscape"?
EXb=EXs.colorDepth:EXb=EXs.pixelDepth;
navigator.javaEnabled()==1?EXjv="y":EXjv="n";
EXd=document;EXw?"":EXw="na";EXb?"":EXb="na";
EXd.write("<img src=http://e2.extreme-dm.com",
"/"+EXvsrv+".g?login="+EXlogin+"&amp;",
"jv="+EXjv+"&amp;j=y&amp;srw="+EXw+"&amp;srb="+EXb+"&amp;",
"l="+escape(parent.document.referrer)+" height=1 width=1>");//-->
</script><noscript><div id="neXTReMe"><img height="1" width="1" alt=""
src="http://e2.extreme-dm.com/s11.g?login=rosec&amp;j=n&amp;jv=n" />
</div></noscript></div>

I'm not even sure what they mean by 'frames' Embarassed

This is all they provided on the 'How to install' page:

The Tracker-code has to be copied into the source of your page integrally and without *any* changes. Only then the tracking will be accurate. If you change the code eXTReMe digital shall have the right to suspend services. The button included within the code must be visible on your page and in the size as exposed below.

Use a normal texteditor such as notepad to copy&paste the code
between the two body tags into the *source* of your page.

About HTML editing: https://www.webreference.com

On Frames.
If you use frames you need to place the *frame* version
of the code into your *frameset* page *and* the same code
also into one of your frames.

Into frameset page:
Between the noframes tags.
Into one of your frames:
Between the body tags.

After placing the trackercode on your page it will automatically activate as soon as the first visitor hits your site.

As I said Max, I've had the button on my page that's linked me
back to my acp there, but it's just not tracking.

its for a web page like the normal type of page on the web, not a forum, unless you have a portal page, if using forumnotion you can have a box with the text in, making a box (in ther screenshots shows where) and add the non frames one to it, but make sure it is set to HTML on the box before you add the code.

I did have it on the Portal Max and did that.

I just tried it again and all I got was the code -
not even the button this time.

They have a section where you can put in your site
link and 'check' the installation is correct.

I've done this previously and got the result that
there is stuff missing from the code.

Edit: Tried again - found one thing I'd done wrong.
Now get it tracking me when I go on my forum as a
'visitor'
It shows my IP and other details,
but it doesn't show that I got there from
another forum. Its supposed to show what forum a visitor
has come from. Also 2 of my members have been onsite
and it hasn't shown them at all -(it may be that they didn't
log out when they were last there so weren't showing as
visitors cos they were already logged in).

Still getting the message though that something is missing
and code is not correct.

Do you know of a tracker Max that can be used on forums
and which will show where someone has come from.

Still not having any luck. Rolling Eyes

What's this notepad stuff supposed to mean ?
I have notepad but when I go into it I find I
can't get anywhere.

They say 'click the bottom of the page'
but where !

They say click on this, click on that and I don't
have those options to click onto !

They say something about bringing up your webpage
in note pad - how on earth do you that ??

They say to put your code between tags
that they seem to think are already there
and they aren't.

I'm really getting - you know what- with this.

And as for Javascript ??????
I don't think I have it.

I tried the ad free stats one
but that's on about the notepad editing
as well. I've got the button on site and
can get to the statistics but it only seems
to be tracking me.

ok, well javascript is mainly when you have animations on web pages,
you can only pop a code into a portal box in the forums,
and you need the right tags set up, on forumnotion you cant add tags,
they dont allow youtube in them because of copyrights,
if it wont work in a portal box, it wont work, forums are different to web pages,
sorry, but they are designed for web pages you design not forum templates.

Hmm well I don't understand this Max because
I know someone with a forum with our host who
has got a tracker on his forum - and he tracked
me back to my forum after I'd visited his.

I may get in touch with support and see if
they might put it on for me. They can only
say no can't they.

I do have animations on my forum, quite a lot
actually. All the navigation and post icons are
animated. Not to mention the animated pics !
